The Belle Vue Aces speedster says he is unconcerned by the fact that he has quickly emerged as his team's star man.

He was dubbed to have had the toughest job in the Belle Vue Aces line-up but Michael Palm Toft insists that he has been feeling no pressure as he is fast becoming Belle Vue's star of the season.

'Speedy' will be looking to put in another sterling away performance tonight when the Rentruck Aces travel to the reigning Elite League champions Poole.

Belle Vue romped to a 51-39 victory over Poole in Manchester last week, another meeting where Palm Toft defied all the odds on the track.

The pint-sized Dane, riding off only a three-point average, gated ahead of 2012 World Champion Chris Holder in heat one and managed to hold him off expertly, even pulling away from him in the latter stages.

Palm Toft insists that his role is pressure free.

"I'm not really feeling the pressure from anyone other than myself," said Palm Toft. "I want to do a good job for the club and myself, but at the end of the day, it is only myself that will be disappointed with a bad meeting.

"I don't just want to be in the team to fill a gap."

Palm Toft, who was struggling to find himself a Premier League side for 2014, was thankful for his big break into Britain's top flight and is also thankful for the support he has in the experienced Belle Vue pits.

"I am enjoying riding for the team a lot. It is a step up from what I was doing, which I think I needed.

"It is very helpful being in this team. I can always ask someone about the set-up of the bikes or lines on the track. We've got some good team spirit going."

In recent weeks, Palm Toft has been compared to fellow Dane and Grand Prix star Kenneth Bjerre, in terms of riding style of ruthless determination.

Palm Toft believes that such comparisons are a sign that he is heading in the right direction.

"I haven't really taken much notice of that; it is a new one for me. I guess it is a good thing to be

compared to riders like that and hopefully it can take me to the next step. There is definitely still a lot more to come from me. There are a few things I want to improve on and I'd like to be a little more consistent."

Tonight, Belle Vue hand a debut to new recruit Lee Payne, who was brought in earlier this week to replace Ben Reade. Poole also have changes in the reserve berths, with Adam Ellis and Charles Wright guesting at six and seven.

Poole: 1 Holder/Ward; 2 Grajczonek; 3 Pawlicki; 4 Milik; 5 Janowski; 6 Ellis (G); 7 Wright (G).

Belle Vue: 1 Zagar; 2 Palm Toft; 3 Nicholls; 4 Worrall; 5 Cook; 6 Nielsen; 7 Payne. Recently Published
